No more ringtones?!?

iTunes 12.8.2.3 no longer allows me to make ringtones for iPhone anymore? I've tried everything. There's no longer a tones section in the sidebar.

Here it is in action with a freshly baked ringtone in iTunes 12.8.2.3 running on High Sierra.

No custom tones shown before, custom tone shown after. The mystery is that there are already several custom tones on the device, so why don't they show? Problem for another day.

You really haven't read it closely enough. Although the user tip is posted within the iTunes for Windows section of this site it addresses the differences between Mac and Windows, and also between iTunes and Music for macOS 10.15 Catalina. Creating a valid ringtone file does not rely on there being a Tones section in the iTunes library. Transferring a valid ringtone file to a device does not rely on there being a Tones section in the iTunes library. The exact process for adding a ringtone varies between pre iTunes 12.7, post iTunes 12.7, and Catalina.
