I have an Apple TV 2nd generation and Disney + has not shown up on it. I have tried researching and cannot find anywhere if it will show up on the 2nd generation (as it does not have an "app" feature to actually download apps on this generation).
I had to mirror as well and it worked fine. I mirrored off a 7plus iPhone and an iPad Air 2. Both mirrored fine.
You need an Apple TV 4th generation or newer.
Disney + will not work on Apple TV 2nd gen. I found this out from other literature but would you be able to mirror from iphone app to the 2nd gen Apple TV? Sometimes there is an HDMI block on mirroring on the 2nd gen unit. I do not 199.00 to buy the latest Apple TV (4K).
I have a 2nd generation Apple TV too. There’s still no Disney + app and I’m not sure if there ever will be. What I’ve been doing is airplaying Disney + from my iPhone to my Apple TV and it works really good.

My airplay won’t work with Disney plus or AppleTV +. I can airplay other streaming services like Amazon. Is this an issue with my Apple TV or are the new streaming services not compatible with airplay on old Apple TV?
Really? My movies wouldnt play once I tried mirroring to my AppleTV, but as soon as I stop mirroring it worked just fine.
That’s weird, mine works fine. I’m using the latest version of iOS, maybe your phone needs updated?
Are you streaming or going off downloaded movies? I wonder if it makes a difference...my phone is current on software.
