It should work; I have it and works fine on my Mac running 10.15.1

Assuming that this is the 32/64 bit issue due to Catalina, go to Adobe.com and get the latest version.

They do but I switched back to acrobat reader maybe 2 or 3 years ago as Preview was not at all good in handling larger files (20mb and up). Maybe I should try Preview again. Have you used it with files that size or larger recently?
FWIW, Preview has a number of interesting "glitches" not to mention it doesn't support the most recent PDF standards correctly.
