I lost my remote for my gen 3 Apple TV

I lost my remote for my gen 3 Apple TV. I am trying to use the Apple TV remote app, but it requires me to enter a code on my Apple TV, which I cannot due since I don’t have a remote. the instructions say I ah ould be able to enter a code in the iOS, but that isn’t an option I see. Thoughts?
