iTunes Music Location

Just built a new computer using Windows 10 Pro. I've gotten all my files and data transferred to the new computer but I'm not able to listen to my music via iTunes.

I have the iTunes Media folder location set to - C:/Data/iTunes/iTunes1/iTunes Media.

My music is in - C:/Data/iTunes/iTunes1/iTunes Media....but there is no music in my library.

WHAT AM I MISSING?????

Thank you

There is a difference between a library and a media folder. Normally everything is in one master folder called iTunes (my experience is with Macs but I think it is the same on Windows).

Setting preferences does not get iTunes to recognize the location of a library. All it does is tell iTunes to put any new media in that location. It does not tell iTunes to look for old media there. To get iTunes to recognize a complete library in a new location start iTunes while holding down the shift key and guide it to the iTunes Library.itl file in your iTunes folder. If you have been using non-default settings for your library and splitting different parts up into different locations then this is going to turn into a very long topic and possibly require re-building your library. Hopefully you have kept it all together and the shift key start will do the trick.

I must still be missing something. Really wondering if it's beyond my knowledge and abilities. :-(

I've tried to choose a library and also to create a new one. I've pointed it to where my music files are (they're all in the same place) and I've moved the .itl file in several places to try and make it see my music along with the .itl file.

I've spent hundreds of hours over the last 10+ years organizing my music. Nothing is misspelled, all has an appropriately sized album artwork cover, etc. I even went so far as to capture the non parental advisory cover because the little "explicit content" sticker on the album artwork was unattractive to me. lol

Very frustrated at this point. :-|
