MacBook Pro won’t start.

Hi all,


I have a late model 2018 15” MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. The unit was fully charged and was last shut down 4 days ago and now dead.


Ive tried to reset the SMC, holding all the correct keys including the P and R start up, with the machine plugged in the charger should be getting warm but nothing.


I’d expect more from a $4,000 machine to be honest.

  • Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, then press it again.
  • Unplug all accessories from your Mac, including printers, drives, USB hubs, and mobile devices. (You could have an issue with one or more of those devices or their cables.) Once more, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, then press it again.

You can try connecting the power adapter and leaving it to charge for a long time, say, overnight. It will NEVER over-charge.


Then, as fyip, suggests, reset the SMC using the "hold the power button for 10 seconds" method or the other method for Macs with T2 chip described in this article:
