Wireless charging makes my iPhone battery drain faster.

I got my iPhone 11 Pro Max on the first day of launch. Battery has been outstanding until I tried using a new wireless charger.

I only used to charge my phone at night before I go to bed. Used the provided charger and lightning cable from day one. I have always gone to bed with about 50+% left for about 4.5 hours of moderate usage a day.

I tried the wireless charger last two nights and the battery drains really fast throughout the day. I now go to bed with 20% remaining battery.

is this an expected behavior?

I agree with you regarding the similarity of the ElectroChemical reactions , low signal or back ground app refresh. While i was trying to venture into the wireless charging - I made sure there weren't any variables when compared to my hardwired charging practice. I was at the exact location before and after. I have always had back ground refresh turned off. And i have not installed any new app during this transition.

I am planning to document my findings with screenshots for apple tech to support. I somehow feel there is a stone unturned.

The same electrochemical reactions occur in batteries regardless of whether the charging current is applied through a wire or wireless charger.

There are many reasons that your phone may have drained more quickly one day rather than another. A very common one is low cell signal. Or perhaps you loaded additional apps that are doing things. You might want to check Settings>General>Background App refresh and turn off things that you don't really need updating in the background.
