Remove Blank Icons from Home Screen

I really hope someone can help me with this. It is a problem that has persisted on my iPhones for years and is slowly driving me nuts.

Way back when the second iPhone was released, I had the phone jailbroken. One of the things I did with the jailbroken phone was customize my homescreen. I cannot remember what app I used for any of this. But, I remember iCons were all customized.

Anyways, since then, I have owned an iPhone 4, Iphone 6s, and now an iPhone 11.

The problem that I have is that my homescreen is covered in blank, black icons. I have all the correct icons for all my installed apps, but everywhere there is additional space, there is a black icon. You click on the icon and it opens to a blank page in Safari.

Everytime I delete these icons, they reappear later on after the phone has been rebooted. Everytime I get a new phone, this same problem continues to follow me.

Is there anyway for me to fix this without having to jailbreak my new phone?

iPhone 11, iOS 13

Have you been continuously moving a back up from one phone to the next when you get a new one? If so, try restoring the phone to factory state and seeing what happens. If everything looks as it should, you've got some corruption in your back up.

It sounds as if somehow, bookmarks are getting saved to the Home Screen. Why the icons are black, I can't say.

You say you delete the icons but that the come back later. Do you have any browsers on your phone other than Safari? If so, try deleting them.

You could also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. It's a bit annoying to have to reconfigure all your custom settings but less work that restoring to factory state, I guess.

But, I really think restore is the way to go.

Best of luck.
