Deleting iMessage app and reinstalling losing data

i am having lots of issues with iMessage since 13.2.2 update. I have my setting so save all messages forever and to be backed up on iCloud.

if i delete the app then reinstall it will i be able to retrieve my old messages? Or will that be lost forever?

Sorry message app can't be deleted.

What are the exact issues you're having with imessage?
