I set my sound on my macbook air to my headphones for input and output. I can hear on my headset for zoom recordings but not live zoom meetings. For live zoom meetings the sound will only play through my macbook air speakers.

I see you're having an issue getting sound to headphones when using an app or service call Zoom meetings.
If you use a native app such as iTunes or Music with headphones, do you hear as expected?
If you do, you'll want to reach out to Zoom for help as there is likely an app specific setting that is causing this.
