My wife and I share the same Apple id. On my ipad only her phone number shows up under "you can receive Imessages and reply from. How do I get my number in the menu so I can select it?

It is never a good idea to share an Apple ID between multiple people. The only way you will resolve this problem is to have an Apple ID for you and her. You could then setup iCloud Family Sharing as so you could access all of your purchases.
