Transfer to Homepod Not Working

I have enabled transfer to HomePod in General, I have removed and re-added the HomePod both from my iPhone and my iCloud device, yet I still cannot get the iPhone to transfer what it's playing to the HomePod without going into the airplay and manually selecting the HomePod. Sometimes when I hold the iPhone over the HomePod, the HomePod will start playing totally different music, or if I click play on it, it will play totally different music. The only way I can have it play what my iPhone XR is playing, is to manually select it in Airplay.

What am I doing wrong? In Transfer to HomePod it says if I am listening to music on my iPhone I just need to hold it over my HomePod and it will start playing there. They are both updated. iPhone iOS 13.2.2 and HomePod ver 13.2.1 (most recent according to Home app). Attached is a screenshot of it showing the iPhone playing one song, while the HomePod (Glenn's Office) playing a totally different track/artist. Then there's a 3rd entry, which says. "Office" that's my wife's HomePod, which I can't seem to remove even though I have house sharing off.

I suspect this is a problem with the iOS13.2.1 update. Many people are reporting problems with their HomePods after the update. It looks like HomePod 13.2 and 13.2.1 are complete disasters (at least for some users, I think it's a problem triggered by some kind of difference in the quality or behavior of the network connection). Network conditions that use to work on the HomePod (and that still work on the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV) no longer work on the HomePod. It's definitely a software bug.

When I ask my iPhone who I am, it knows, when I ask my HomePod, it doesn't. Yes, I have voice recognition on on the HomePod, yes it's connected to the same apple account as my phone (and my Apple Music) and yes it's on the same wifi network. BTW, the faq you link must be out of date, as there is no option in HomePod settings to change what wireless network it is on.
