Files on my desktop unresponsive.

I can't open, trash, move to a folder or otherwise work with any file on my desktop? Files in my documents and download folders work fine.Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

Desktop files and folders not responding to double-click (2019 iMac Catalina) I'm having some odd desktop behavior. Sometimes, everything works as expected. But more often than not, the issue persists. I can not seem to open folders or files on my desktop with a double-click. I have to right click to open the files. Also, when select a desktop item, I can not deselect it by clicking off. I can simply click and highlight a different item. Everything seems to operate normal for a few minutes after a reboot or when I first log in, but then the issue begins again. I have a 2019 iMac Catalina 10.15.4 which is only about a month old. My previous computer was a 17" 2011 MacBook Pro which had an SSD installed. That machine was a beast until it died a couple months ago. I expected the new iMac to perform much better, but I'm surprised at how poorly it runs. I'm not sure if it's the machine or Catalina. I haven't found this issue online or in forums, so hoping someone might know something. Thanks.

The file "***" couldn't be opened Hi everyone, Since I updated my mac mini (2018) to macOS Catalina (currently version 10.15.1 (19B88)) I started to have this problem that after a while I couldn't open or manipulate files. I always get the following message "The file "***" couldn't be opened". It almost happens everytime to my Desktop folder while other folders keep unaffected. There is no real apparent cause to this problem. I have tried different solutions like in repairing my disk, restarting finder running a few terminal commands without any luck. The only thing that helps is restarting my mac but this is only temporary since this issue always returns once a day. Somebody knows what is going on? Thank you in advance!

Never mind. Reboot fixed it. Duh. Thanks anyway.
