My 2015 Mac Book Pro will not update to Catalina and I can't figure out why.

Close the App Store. Try running this command in the Terminal…

sudo softwareupdate --reset-ignored

Then open System Preferences > Software Update.

Works for some.

You're welcome. Sorry it didn't work however, I have updated 5 Macs from 10.15 to 10.15.1 without a problem. You could try one other Terminal command…

sudo softwareupdate -l --all --force --reset-ignored

I'm sorry, but I'm not running OS 10.15 yet. I'm still running 10.14.6. I haven't found a safe place to download the OS system yet. Apple has already moved on to 10.15.1 on their download site. Every time that I try and install that I get the error that " OS 10.15 needs to be installed first."

Thanks for the response but that didn't work. Apple has moved to the Mac OS 10.15.1update. If you don't already have Mac OS 10.15 installed it won't update on the Mac. I hope they fix this.....

Just to clarify because I didn't word that correctly, some I updated from Mojave to Catalina 10.15, some directly to 10.15.1. Plus many waited until 10.15.1 before upgrading.

Welcome. That's not the error in your screen shot. You would get that error if you tried installing the 10.15.1 update from Downloads - Apple - Support.
