Apple sold me 16 GB to replace 4 GB in my 2011 MacBook Pro 13”. I see this article says 8 GB is the max the computer will take. I have not tried to replace the memory yet. Should I bother opening the cover and attempting

When Apple releases a computer it publishes the RAM specs that are available at that time. It is pretty common for RAM manufacturers to squeeze in more RAM in the same form factor but when that happens Apple doesn't update its specs. Yes, your computer can handle 16GB
