Error Code 8003

Since upgrading to Catalina, I am unable to read or write from my iCloud Drive on my office computer, I am unable to copy images from an external drive to a folder on my desktop, and when I try to log into iCloud, my password is not accepted. The password is accepted just fine on my computer at home. Deeply troubling. Please help. (And please help by being as detailed as possible. Please don't assume I am a Mac master.)

Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?

Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin

Hi there, mw3333.

I see that you're getting an error when you try to empty the trash on your Mac. You can't access files you're syncing using iCloud Drive, and you can't log into iCloud on your work computer, and you can't copy images from an external disk to a folder on the Desktop. I'm glad to help.

If you can't empty the Trash on your Mac -- If the complete error message reads, "The operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003)", follow the steps in this article.

Import photos from storage devices and DVDs using Photos on Mac -- These are the steps to use to import photos from external storage devices.

Manage and use your Apple ID -- If you're trying to sign into the Apple ID you're using for iCloud, see if you're able to log into your Apple ID account page:

"Simply sign in to your Apple ID account page at any time to manage your account:"

If you're able to sign into your Apple ID from the Apple ID account page, see if you can sign into iCloud Drive now.

Let me know how that goes, and take care!
