Trying to connect my old IPAD and somehow ICLOUD is different

This IPAD is several years old and back then I had a different email account and password.

Then we got new phones and in that time I changed email accounts and passwords.

Yesterday I tried to sign in with this IPAD and somehow it has the old email account and wants me to sign in that way.   I have tried all passwords that I MIGHT have used back then and can't get in.

  1. How could I end up with two different icloud accounts
  2. How can I get into this old IPAD since I no longer have that email or access to it?

I even tried to reset the entire system and of course it wants the password.

Whats really weird is that when I am asking this question it says what device is this about

and my Ipad shows there.

iPad 2, 9

Hello,

The iPad is locked with Activation Lock. There is no way around unlocking Activation Lock without inserting the device’s associated Apple ID. Since this is not an option you will have to find the original receipt for the device that clearly shows the serial number. Once you have this document you can have Apple unlock your iPad. There is no way around this.

That's the problem here. I don't have the password or the old email account anymore. In some ways it shows everything is tied together but on the Ipad and go to settings then to icloud it still shows the old email address. Also over to the right where it says my name and email address along with my avatar and picture it still shows the old email address.
