MacBook: Microsoft Office apps from App Store or Office.com?

Hi,

New Apple user here.

What is the difference between Microsoft Office apps from App Store and from Office.com?

Which is better to use? How those apps will update if I will download them from Office.com? Is Office apps in App Store always up to date?

Here Microsoft recommends uninstall them and install directly from Office.com. Why?

Thanks!!

If you want to make a one-time purchase rather than paying by subscription (Office 365), your only choice is to buy directly from Microsoft.

Personally, I would do it directly from Microsoft even if you want to subscribe to Office 365 because if there are any payment or licensing issues you will only have one company to deal with.

I subscribe to Office 365 directly from Microsoft and they automatically keep it up to date.

The following link has both one-time purchase and Office 365 subscription options. https://products.office.com/en-us/buy/compare-microsoft-office-products-for-mac?ms.officeurl=mac-compare-redir

Hi,

Thanks for your answer.

It's not about purchasing. I already have o365 subscription directly from Microsoft tied to my Live account.

Just tested both installations: from Microsoft and from Apple App Store.

Both looks the same, both activated with MS account.

I will try the App Store version longer. Looks better to me getting all updates from App Store.
