iOS 13.2.3 battery drain

Yesterday upgraded iPhone SE to iOS 13.2.3 - today battery is useless. From 90% to 3% in the morning lost in 2 hours while it was not used at all. Later charged it to 77% and lost in 50 minutes 40% of charge. At least it charges back faster than before but it doesn't help. Can't leave home/office without power bank today. Just yesterday I could charge it full in the morning and it was ~15% left when came home 12 hours later.

The battery drain has gone from bad to worse on my iPhone 6S ever since iOS 13.1.2 was introduced. With iOS 13.2.3 the battery has drained from 100% to 1% in 2 hours without the phone being used at all. If I turn off the phone when the battery is at 100% and then turn it back on, the phone will flash the low battery warning and then go dead. Once I plug it into an electrical outlet, the phone will show that it is charged 100%. The same thing happens if I reboot by pressing the home and power buttons simultaneously. These iOS updates are destroying the battery. It was at 96% capacity when the problems started. In one day it dropped to 95% and then a couple hours later to 94%. I have gone to the Apple store and called telephone support. The employees act like I am the only one with battery issues. The employee at the Apple store told me to recalibrate the battery by letting it discharge completely before recharging. If that didn’t work, then restore the phone. If that didn’t work, then buy a new battery. If that didn’t work, then buy a new phone. Seriously? Is this the advice Apple is training its employees to give?

I had a similar issue with my SE. After using it a couple of minutes it lost battery power in 10% steps, each time I opened an app, that connected to the internet. Battery health shows 95%.

Called Apple Support yesterday evening and they ran two diagnostic tests. The first quick test, showed an app that was constantly crashing while trying to connect to the internet.

The second test took 10min, and confirmed the constant drop of battery power was connected to that app.

After deleting the app the next diagnosis did not show any crashing apps or other software related issues, and my battery power is now back to normal. At least that what it looks like after one day of using the phone.

But battery life has definitely been better in iOS 12.

I have iPhone 8. Not very old. Bad battery drain after update to iOS 13.2.3 too. Was charging beautifully in iOS 12. I’ve already been using optimised battery setting & that doesn’t help at all. Overheating badly just downloading apps from App Store. I have also been having problems with connecting & downloading from App Store. This is not a battery problem. It is a software problem that just has been festering since this disaster our iOS 13 update. Please fix this soon Apple. Your loyal customers are getting restless.

The app has been developed by my local Mobile Provider, to measure the usage of the data plan and to find free Wi-Fi Hotspots from the same carrier.

But, as Apple Support told me, any app that has not been correctly adapted to iOS 13 could cause such issues, and only the diagnostic test will reveal, if an app is causing the battery drain.

all you can do is leave it on the charger as I did for a full day and night and mine came back. it must be doing something in the background and until that stops it will keep failing. Thursday my phone SR was dead and apple said get new battery then by friday morning it just started to hold the charge and know all is ok. so fingers crossed.

Me too , Ive worked my way through all the 13. upgrades and battery drain is awful and App's are glitchy, battery gets hot, I have an original Iwatch and forget about that , it is now permanently in airplane mode, when it is not in airplane mode it drains in an hour from 100% to 0.

I took it off airplane mode today just to see if things had improved after two upgrades Im at 13.2.3, but my Iphone 7 plus then drained even faster from 95% to 40% in that hour, so something really screwed up going on here. Cant we just go back to 12 I mean why fix what isn't broken, it seems to me that Apple has taken a path like samsung in getting to the new release of yet another new phone is priority in the race to have the newest flashy thing. I changed from android originally to iphone because it was simple and realiable and just worked, but everything after 7 seems to have introduced a raft of issues.

Maybe I just don't like change, but actually I just like quality gear that works.

I live in hope that we get that back.

cheers

I brought a new Iphone 6 and when i did the setup it wouldn't let me complete it until I did the new update. The brand new battery is terrible. Whenever I use the phone it drops by about 3-4% in the first minute. i got the new iphone to avoid battery issues and they seem worse then ever. I think it is time to go with a phone that isn't made by apple like most people I know have! Very disappointed with apple.

My iPad Air 3 loses about 20-30% battery overnight - I have no background apps running, if I look in settings at the battery graph there’s an hour of activity each hour while I’m sleeping with ‘home & lockscreen’ being the culprit.

I have been having issues where I arrive in the morning and the iphone will not start. Then I go through DFU reset and have to do a restore to get it going again. This time the Apple iphone software on my latest up-to-date macbook said Apple recognised their was a bug on my version and I needed to update. So after about 1 hour of being down I am up and running and surprise surprise the iphone says 100%. Hopefully this new 13.2.3 fixes the issue as Apple has almost forced me into a position of buying a new phone and if I get screwed over at this stage I'll go Android as I wasn't planning a new phone until next year.

Even worse situation here. Upgraded from

a perfectly working iOS 10+ yest on an iPad Air 2 to 13.2 . Battery health was 90% before, so all well, and it was fully charged also whe started the upgrade. Installed well, worked for abt 20min when doing the initial tinkerings, and the just switched off.. and then showed an Empty battery logo-plug into charger!!! So plugged in, but it just keeps looping.. loads OS, I get a glimpse that battery is 100%, and restarts again.. done everything , reset, hard reset, DFU mode - Restore.. iTunes shows battery charge of 1%.. ipad itself, still 100% and keeps looping.. Stupid me for upgrading an iOS that worked just fine...((((

Ok. Update.. After letting it rest connected to MBP in "switched off mode" for a while ( it probably just got tired of the reboots and depleted totally so stayed off) - unplugged and plugged it in again.. it booted up to show 5% CHARGE!!! Managed also to get a chat going with the Apple support abt it.. they managed then to open a support session on the iPad itself, info was gathered, sent to Apple, reviewed there on spot, the result- ALL IS IN TIP TOP SHAPE WITH THE IPAD!! and "These things just happen, let the new update "settle in"" !! :)))))))) anyways, as result, looooads on apps to download and resign in as no backups were made for a loong while, so a clean slate, springcleaning, call it what you want.. :) so far so good, charging fast.. good luck to everyone with their issues!

Ok. Update N2. Happiness was too early... it charged to 100%.. unplugged it.. and left it at that.. and then, started viewing very fast battery discharge even just under locked screen, wasn't even using it - just waking it up every now and then by clicking the home button to check the battery .. took it about 30 minutes to get to abt 40%, and then just switched off totally.. so.. its TOOOOTALLY fckd up anyways :( PLEASE, UPDATE THE BLOODY iOS APPLE!!!!!!! OR GIVE A CHANCE TO DOWNGRADE TO WHATEVER IOS WE WANT!!! ITS OUR RIGHT TO BE ABLE TO USE THE PRODUCTS THAT WE HAVE BOUGH, RIGHT????!!
