Catalina has degraded Hasselblad Phocus and Black magic Davinci Resolve

I upgraded to Catalina not expecting it to slow down processing so much.

I use Hasselblad Phocus for developing my photos which has always been slow given the large file sizes but a typical edit would export in 20 seconds. With Catalina it is now 30 seconds per photo.

It is also extremely laggy on editing, if I move the pointer to a variable, I then have to wait about 1 second before being able to enter a number. Not a lot of fun :(

Similarly with Davinci Resolve, work flow seems mostly ok but export times are about 50% longer.

Frankly I don't care about podcasts and TV on my mac, it's a work tool.

Will Catalina speed up work flow eventually?

Should I stick with it and hope exporting photo and video files will speed up as new versions are created or should I go back to Mojave? (even if it means buying a new machine that does not have Catalina)?

Currently using a late 2017 iMac 27" and 2019 15" MacBook Pro 8 core i9

Cheers
