automatic delete audio messages on by default is wrong!

I have some very important audio messages that got deleted automatically. I did not understand why until I noticed that Apple created a feature to auto delete them after 2 minutes. That option is fine, just not when it is by default turned on and there is no way how you can retreive your audio messages. I have some very important messages that got deleted automatically due to this option being turned on by default. This is just wrong!! Is there no way how I can get tem back? Of course there is no backup from before I got the messages because they are gone 2 minutes after hearing them..
