I was asked to update imovie on Mojave but the new version only works on Catalina which I haven't installed. How can I go back to the previous version?

iMac 27", macOS 10.14

As a workaround, you can import your AVCHD files to your desktop using the Image Capture app in the Applications folder on your Mac. Then open the AVCHD folder and navigate to the .mts files inside. They are your movies. Then use the free download Handbrake to convert the .mts files to Mp4/AAC, that Handbrake will do by default. Drag the converted files into iMovie.
