"Mirrored set (RAID 1) status: degraded”, MacOS Disk utility

I have 2 hard drives mirrored using Disk Utility on MacOS 10.13.6. It seems one of my disks is corrupted and I want to enforce rebuild process by so called Repair option on Disk Utility. How to distinguish the corrupted from healthy one? How to check data on healthy one?

Mirrored RAID Rebuild at "0.0%"... Hello... I just replaced a failed disk in my RAID set with a brand-new disk (8TB Seagate External - exact same model as the one I already have). I added it to my set (it was "successful" according to MacOS High Sierra) but the "Rebuilding" has been stuck at "0.0%". After a few minutes, my Mac freaks out and completely restarts on its own. When it fully boots, my Mac marks the newly-added disk as "FAILED" in my RAID set. I have no idea why this keeps happening. It's just a loop I am in that I cannot get out of. Is there anyone who might be able to help me out?

Mirrored RAID Failed I recently set up a Mirrored RAID via Disk Utility. It consists of two 8tb external drives and contains about 5.5 tb of data. It was working fine until (perhaps coincidentally) the OS upgraded from 10.15.6 to 10.15.7, after which the RAID drive would not mount. It did not appear in Finder, but in Disk Utility, the RAID drive appeared, but not mounted, and the two member drives appeared grayed out, also not mounted. The mount button returned an 'Invalid Drive' when pressed. Also appearing, was a new drive within one of the member containers. None of the repair or test processes worked. Finally, I restored to a spare 8tb external drive from Time Machine. (an 18-hour process) First of all, any idea of what happened, and was there a way to fix this that I don't know about? And, I was under the impression that a drive failure on this mirrored RAID would still allow me to access the data on the other drive? That did not appear to be possible.

Attempting RAID 10 using Disk Utility and Terminal. Fails with Error: -69886: Invalid request. Then mounts larger than expected. I tried to follow both Lifewire Disk Utility steps and SS64 terminal commands. Each time, tweaking various things, I keep getting Error: -69886: Invalid request One OWC 4-bay enclosure. Four identical Seagate 8TB drives. I can create the two mirror pairs either in APFS or JHFS+ just fine. But I cannot then additionally figure out the happy path successful commands to get the striping of these two pairs for form one overall RAID drive set. MacOS Ventura. Mac Studio. NOT use the 'disk' nomenclature' but instead use the mounted mirror drive name. And voila it worked. But shouldn't a striped array of TWO 8TB mirrored drives result in still/only 8TB? This shows 16TB mounted. I'd suspect the 0 KB one.
