Iphone 11 pro max screen scratches

The day I purchased the phone (iphone 11 pro max) I myself applied a screen protector (FILM) on my phone to avoid any scratches just outside the store within an hour of purchase. After around 10 days I decide to use a tempered glass instead of a screen protector film. I removed the protector and cleaned the screen with a microfibre cloth and what I see are scratches on the display...I am not sure if I received a phone with scratches already or did the microfibre cloth scratch the display. I have been extremely careful with my phone but still couldn't do enough. Apple support was of no help whatsoever. I am really sad but can't do anything. Apple claims that it has the strongest glass ever. My question "what Apple meant when it said stongest glass ever?"

Hello,

What Apple claimed is true, it is -more resistant- to cracks from fall damage. This years iPhones are equipped with Gorilla Glass 6.

I don't know if you've ever heard about Gorilla Glass? the guys who created this chemically increased the toughness of the glass by a complex process.

To make it more understandable, the display is more shock/shatter resistance but the surface is "softer" and prone to scratches. As far as development goes, it's either scratch OR shatter resistant. And for now it's shatter resistance as "priority".

Quote:

Gorilla Glass 6 is an entirely new glass composition that can be chemically strengthened to give it significantly higher levels of compression than is possible with Gorilla Glass 5. This enables Gorilla Glass 6 to be more resistant to damage," said Dr. Jaymin Amin, vice president of technology and product development, Corning Gorilla Glass and Corning Specialty Materials. "Moreover, with breaks during drops being a probabilistic event, the added compression helps increase, on average, the likelihood of survival through multiple drop events.

Infact: it should technically be more scratch resistant than it's predecessors. (Gorilla Glass 5)

It's a really interesting subject to read about online.

I hope this information shed a bit of light on your issue.

Kind regards,

K
