2011 iMac Computer

Background: In my last contact with the Apple Forum I was deciding to buy a new computer or update my mid 2011 iMac. I received help from Kaufman7 and also from my son who ordered for me a DIY Hard Drive Upgrade Kit for iMac 2011. He also ordered an installation kit with a heat sensor SATA cable. We also cloned my data from the old drive to the new one. I then took it to a local computer service centre and they installed the new SSD but they didn't want the installation kit with the heat sensor SATA cable. The computer is much faster and I am happy with that aspect. However, the computer no longer senses when the fan needs to kick in so when it does it ramps up as loud as the heat pump for my house and it doesn't shut off. Impossible to ignore. I went back to the service centre and they told me there is fan calming software. My son wants me to take the heat sensor SATA cable back to them and have them install it.

Question: If I take the heat sensor cable into the service centre and ask them to replace the SATA inline power cable they installed with the upgrade will this solve the fan issue?

Your son is correct, tell them to install the heat sensor cable or take it to someone else that will do the job correctly. Installing it will take care of the fan issue.
