Apple ID recovery 24 days!!!!

My wife forgot her passcode and her IPhone locked. Despite our best efforts I couldn’t get her password reset and the account went into recovery in Wednesday. The activation lock is applied to her phone so she hasn’t been able to use since Wednesday. Every day Iforgot would update and today I went on and it now says 24 days for recovery.... how the heck will she be able to wait 24 days to use her phone!!
