How to reset songs metadata

Long time ago, I changed the metadata for some songs on iTunes (changed the genre), but today I would like to restore the original metadata. How do I go about it? This change is persistent across all my devices.

You can edit the metadata manually. Unless you noted the original values somewhere, e.g. in Comments, you're going to have to do it from memory. The information isn't stored anywhere for it to be restored from.

That data lives in the cloud too, so it is available whenever you sign into your Cloud Music Library. For Apple Music content you could remove the album/track from the iCloud Music Library, then add it back again, but you'd lose ratings, play counts, date added, etc. I can't think of an automated way to restore the lost data in Music on Catalina. I could do it in iTunes for Windows provided there was a dated library file in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder from before you started tinkering.
