I can't find an event I just created.

I just imported some clips from my camera to a new event called "Temporary". FCP said that the clips were finished importing, so I disconnected my camera. Then FCP crashed. I restarted it and my event was not listed, so I attempted to import the clips again. When I tried to import them to a new event, I got an error message that said, "Event name in use. Event exists already. Please choose another name." I cannot see this event in the list of the events on the left side of the window or in the drop down menu in the import dialog box. The same thing happened to me the last time I tried to import and I ended up changing the name of the event I was importing into. I would really like to know where these events are so I can use them or delete them.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

If your stuff goes into a Managed Library you Events are in the Package Contents.

Find your Library icon and right click then Show Package Contents.

See if your Event is there.

FYI: Do not move stuff around in the Package Contents unless you know exactly what you are doing.

You can duplicate the whole Library and work on the duplicate if you want to experiment. Safe method.

Not really sure.

One thing that may have happened is there could have been processes still in operation even after the files were exported.

That's why monitoring using Command-9 (Background Task window) is most useful.

Shutting down early may have corrupted the file path.

As mentioned experiment on a copy of the Library.

Or at least have a working backup to revert if something goes amiss.

I would delete the existing event in the package Contents and re-import.

You can also create a new Library and import to that.
