AirPods Pro firmware 2B588 reduce the noise cancelling capability

After my AirPods Pro auto-update to firmware 2B588 the noise cancelling suddenly become very weak, almost no difference from Off mode and Noise cancel mode.

Reset the AirPods Pro fix it for few minutes, then it got auto-update and noise cancelling capability got reduced again.

If Apple reduce the noise cancelling function then AirPods Pro is simple lost it’s point, I don’t understand why Apple do this.

Currently, there is no way to downgrade or "reset" a firmware on Airpods Pro, KayneGiordano. My suggestion is the following. I compiled a full list of our current options to help right now below:

I'm going to reply to all those mentioning this issue with this information so they can get the help they need (and a notification that they were replied to. This way, they can all get help the quickest way possible)

Please do the following A and B:

A) Submit a case with AppleCare

1) Go to https://support.apple.com/airpods

2) Scroll to "Tell us how we can help"

3) Click "Get support"

4) Just go through the menus and pick the most relevant option. I suggest picking "Audio Quality" but there are others.

5) Click "Chat" and let them know through chat the problems and also please reference our thread in the chat: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250887615

(OR you can schedule a call but it may be best to ask for a follow-up call during the chat if they don't mention it themselves)

IMPORTANT: Mention that the ANC quality was reduced with the AirPods Pro firmware 2B588 and the problem is STILL in firmware 2C54!

ALSO:

B) Please also file a bug report about this on the feedback section while your case with AppleCare is ongoing. That way, both AppleCare and the bug report staff will see these reports.

If we all do this, they will see the growing number of issues with this.

Submit the bug report feedback here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/airpods.html

At the very least we’ve made it a mainstream issue with most tech media picking up the story. Apple may be forced to respond as a google news search of Airpods Pro has become dominated with the question of ANC reduction. Regardless if Apple comments the next firmware update will be the most scrutinized in airpods history and we’ll know whether they address our concerns and increase the ANC. If not I’d expect next steps of potential litigation.

I am starting to think that the noise cancelling was causing the airpods to push them out of people's ears, so they had to reduce it. I mean mine were literally popping out of my ears and I couldn't stop it. I had to tape them to the side of my ears, but now they stay in without issues. It's possible they just were sick of getting complaints they wouldn't stay in people's ears, so they reduce it and that seems to have fixed "that" issue, but created a new problem.

Yes. After going through the different pieces about 60 times with them falling out at my desk, almost losing them into water 4 or 5 times, then them landing in a pile of mud, I tapped them to my head.

I never made the connection to why they stayed in my ears now, but after the update, I have had maybe 2 times they fell out, which I was moving. Before they would literally jump out of my ears. I could feel them moving and "pop", out of my ears.

I also noticed after the update, they shut off before they completely fell out. Before they would just drop out with the music playing, but they go mute just before they come out now.

🤦‍♂️

This is the author of the French article that KayneGiordano posted (https://www.lesnumeriques.com/intra-ecouteur/apple-airpods-pro-p54603/labo-apple-airpods-pro-la-reduction-de-bruit-a-t-elle-vraiment-ete-degradee-par-une-mise-a-jour-n146257.html)

It's trying to say we are all crazy. So I told him no and that RTINGs even showed the drop in ANC in the bass-level between 2B584 and 2C54. Author is unable to state what the original firmware that was tested was on... He said it was before 2B588's release yet there are multiple test-firmwares that were available at that time especially for review purposes.

They want the devices to study them. It's not a swap out. It's for them mainly. The AirPods do exhibit some other problems (wireless charging won't work but that also seems to be nearly universal except for certain brands of chargers) and also the Right AirPod is always 10% less battery than the Left and dies earlier.

The purpose of them collecting it is for them to run in-house diagnostics on my actual devices in which I reported the problems and discussed them with Apple privately and on this forum...

But since 2C54 has been pulled and was mentioned to have caused even more problems with the devices (hence being pulled), a new set on 2B588 would be better in the meantime for myself while waiting for a truly new firmware update.

It would be nice to receive a pair on 2B584 but I don't think that will happen. But my pair is running a firmware that is now unavailable.

What I am finding weird now is I am stuck on 2C54. I used my APP just walking a few streets yesterday waiting for my car to be done with a nail in the tire and wow they were terrible just walking a street with ANC on, very little difference to off.

Why don't they just let us revert back to 2B588 since its current, never mind the original. I am stuck on a pulled Firmware.
