.jpg messages won’t open

i am looking for some ideas as to how to open some .jpg photos sent to my iPhone. I have previously opened them and viewed them without any issues only a few days ago and don’t believe ice changed any settings.??? Thanks in advance for your advice.

i was send photos via text but i cant open it I was sent photos via text and I used to be able to open them but not anymore?

Photos in messages won't load A few months ago, I received an alert that my phone was running low on storage. It suggested that I optimize. I did that. Now every photo/video that was sent in a text message before that is a blank box that says "tap to download". When I tap, either nothing will happen or it turns into a white square with a question mark. Some of those photos I really need! Does anybody know how to fix this??

Please check two things...

Do you have iMessages synced to iCloud?
Do you have these messages on iCloud Photos?

thanks for your responses. The messages aren’t anywhere that I can find in my photos even tho I have now put messages synched to iCloud.
