Time remaining no longer showing on watch face

Until recently, when I set the timer on my Apple Watch, then returned to the main watch face, the time remaining on the timer showed in one corner, as I had set it up.

Now all that shows is the time I set the timer to, such as 20 mins, rather than the remaining time, gradually reducing.

My watch software is up to date (perhaps this happened at the last update - done automatically, so I am not sure when that was?) I have updated the software on my iPhone XS, but really this is a stand alone Watch problem.

Any suggestions please?

This may depend on your settings, or the Watch Complication you are using.
