How to prevent apple watch from 'showing time' when I use various apps?

OK so bear with me - new apple watch user --

How do I prevent the watch from showing the time when running various apps (unless I raise my wrist) --

For example in STRAVA when i run, the watch after a few seconds goes into just showing time (on the right side of the watch), instead of staying on showing me my training data. Looking through various settings having a hard time figuring out where to change this. Really annoying I need to raise my wrist everytime to see my training data!

thanks for the help!!

Have a look at your wake screen.

If you want it to remain on your app alone have a look wake screen settings

iPhone>Watch>General>Wake Screen>Return to Clock

Three options there, the default is After 2 minutes

Other choices are Always or After 1 hour

You can also change for specific apps
