Visa Gift Card

I recently bought a $100 Visa Gift card to use on a different platform and to add it on my phone after. Once I bought what I wanted without adding the card to my phone yet, it still said I had $30.00 on the card. However, once I added the card to my phone without buying anything yet, they charged me $9.97 for something? Now I can’t buy what I wanted to buy anymore. Does Apple tax Visa Gift Cards if you just add them to your phone?

They do not but you might have owed money on a previous purchase or subscription and that gets charged automatically once balance becomes available. See:

Click on this link to read what to do "If you see ‘itunes.com/bill‘ or an unfamiliar charge on your bank, credit card, or debit statement" --> https://support.apple.com/HT201382 Note, if you are a Family Sharing organizer, purchases or subscriptions made by another family member may be charged to your card but will not appear under your purchase history or subscriptions. Ask family members about those or check your receipts.
