A lot of WiFi networks are marked Wifi Protected Access, meaning that they require a password in order for users to be able to connect to the network.

In your case, the WiFi password could be incorrect if you made a typographical error or simply don't have the correct password. Without entering the correct WiFi password, you won't be able to access the network.

If you rebooted your router, forgot the network on your phone and Reset Network Settings (ALL THREE STEPS) and it didn't fix the problem next try the router settings for MAC filtering (called Access Control on some routers). This feature of routers blocks access to any devices not listed on its "Allowed" list. and the message to a blocked device would be "incorrect password".

Also see if it connects when you are right next to an access point for your router.
