Hi,
I have a free years subscription to Apple TV + after purchasing a new phone. How can I add that to my Apple TV box in the living room?
Ive tried to mirror it across but it says it cannot be done. See picture.
It is working now with the mirroring from the phone. I have restated it and it seemed to help. I’m hopeful that it will work through the app eventually. But I have some relative success.

You need an TV HD or 4K (hardware) connected to your TV or using an TV app (software) on your TV.

So will it not work with a 3rd Gen Apple TV??
Not sure if TV 3rd gen. AirPlay is supported, did you try using AirPlay from your iPhone?
I can use AirPlay from the phone.
Done an update on 3rd Gen and it now has the Apple TV app on there. But when I go into it it says Accessing TV with a spiny wheel.

If you have the TV app, you should be good to go.
Are your TV connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet?
If Wi-Fi, try rebooting the router.
If not then use iPhone AirPlay.
