Using 10.13.6 on a 27" iMac my windows and documents keep going full screen. Defeats the purpose of having a large screen if I can't have 2 or 3 docs side by side with the Finder window in the background.
When something goes full screen you have to manually reset it to the size & location it was. Very annoying. My browsers are the only thing I use & want full screen.

If you find an app has gone into "Full Screen" mode, press the "Escape" key to return it to normal screen mode.
Have you created a custom keyboard shortcut for full screen mode perhaps? The normal shortcut for Full Screen mode is control+command+f -- does this conflict with some other shortcut you have?

Also check Sys Prefs>Mission Control & uncheck the top 3.
Thanks for your reply. I do appreciate your response. Have not created a custom keyboard shortcut. Like I said before, don't use full screen for anything except browsers. With those I've just dragged to full screen, and there they stay.
Thanks to you too, BDAqua. I appreciate your response also. Followed your advice and unchecked the top 2. Third was already unchecked. Let's give it a couple of days, then I'll report back to you. Lately, the full screen problem has happened quite often in the Finder window, TextEdit, Pages and Numbers.
