disk utility

the view option in my disk utility is not showing. I've been trying to solve this problem for hours. can't find anything related to this.

The Disk Utility app in macOS Sierra does not have the View option in the menubar, see screenshot below.


Why do you believe you should see that option, it was only introduced with macOS High Sierra.


By default Disk Utility in Sierra and earlier OS's shows all devices, Disks and Volumes.


Disk Utility in macOS High Sierra and newer have the View option in the menubar because by default it

only shows the Volumes. In order to see the hierarchical Disks you need to click on Select All Devices under

the View menubar item.


So don't spend any more hours trying to work it out, it is the expected UI for Disk Utility in macOS Sierra.
