Homepod loses connection

Hi,

I'm using 2018 Mac mini to play music using airplay in multible rooms. All the other speakers work nicely, but the HomePod loses connection very often. In the music app the airplay icon turns orange when the connection is lost. The computer and HomePod are now using 5 GHz wifi, but I've also tried 2.4 GHz. The router is AirPort Extreme. I don't have this connection problem with the HomePod when playing music from my iPhone or iPad. On the Airport utility it shows that the data speed for the HomePod is 702 MB/s and RSSI -55 dBm. Restarting everything has been done many times. Also factory reset for the HomePod has been made. All devices are updated to the latest software.

Hi -anssi-,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like the Mac mini is unable to have a stable connection with the HomePod, as there's no issues with your iPhone and iPad. I'll be happy to help.

To help troubleshoot this behavior, I recommend following the steps outlined in this helpful article: If AirPlay or screen mirroring isn’t working on your device There are additional steps within the article that can help resolve the issue you're experiencing.

In addition, I suggest creating a test user account on your Mac, to see if you're able to have a stable connection with the HomePod. This can help determine if the behavior you're experiencing on the Mac is user specific or system wide. Here's how to create a test user account on the Mac: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Kind regards.
