Airport Extreme dropping connection

Issue with client's Airport Extreme (one month old) needing to be rebooted 4-5 times daily. Clients lose internet connectivity - both wired and wireless - green light on router. Static IP assigned to router and manually entered. Installed in small office - less than 10 users - all Macintosh. Port forwarding on three ports for Daylite CRM. Firmware at 7.5.1, No guest network enabled.
Troubleshooting included:
Switched ISP from ADSL to Cable (completely different technology and modems)
Switched router out and replaced with identical router - reconfigured manually
Turned on interference robustness
Changed both wireless channels
Changed out power supply and put both modem and router on UPS

Going to try this. Thank you. I know IPV6 is the future (we have Cox) so I couldn't just do a work-around for long. I'll report back. I don't have a Mac I have Windows 7 PC so I don't have internet settings under internet. I do have an IPV6 tab but when I set it to tunnel I lost having an internet connection. Any suggestions?

The issues between our Cox DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem and the Airport Extreme seem to be related to IPv6.

I changed IPv6 in Internet Options to Configure IPv6: Automatically & IPv6 Mode: Native as native IPv6 is now supported in Phoenix according to this note from Cox:

http://www.cox.com/residential/support/internet/article.cox?articleId=0bced860-9 666-11df-6baf-000000000000

So far, our connection is a lot more stable with no dropped connections.

I am having the same problem. I have Cox and 4 AC Extremes. The constant internet dropping started about a month ago and I have spent countless hours on the phone with Cox and Apple. A senior manager at Cox told me the problem happened when they turned on IPv6 but they don't know what the problem is or how to fix it and blamed Apple. Apple senior advisor says the ACs can handle IPv6 but didn't know what to do to help fix the issue and essentially blamed Cox. The classic case of everyone blaming someone else.

I finally found a solution that seems to be working:

1. Airport Utility

2. Base Station

3. Edit

4. Internet tab

5. Internet Options

6. Uncheck "Enable IPv6 Connection Sharing"

Connection has been back to normal.

I would like to hear from someone with more knowledge as to the difference between turning off IPv6 vs Configure IPV6: Automatically and IPV6 Mode: Tunnel

Thanks!

I'm using Link-Local only. But you all sound like you have Macs and I have Windows 7. It takes a Mac or IPhone to get into some of the settings of the Airport Extreme so if you have Windows, regardless of what Apple says, you can't get to them. So I also turned offf IPV-6 and no longer lose a signal. I figure when Cox has IPV6 totally out to everyone and no one is using IVP4 any more they'll figure out a fix between the Apple Router and their system. I have Cox Premier and am supposed to get up to 100mbps and I get anywhere from 138 down to 128 so I'm not complaining at this point. Surfboard 6141 modem.

I have COX as an ISP with Airport Extreme Router. COX is absolutely no help in solving the problem. They blame everything on Apple. Problem solved with your solution. No dropped service in more than 48 hours.

1. AirportUtility

2. Click on your base station then hit edit

2. Internet

3. Internet Options

3. Configure IPV6: Automatically

4. IPV6 Mode: Tunnel

5. Enable IPV6 Connection Sharing is Checked

One added step if you get an error message on the router, just click on it and choose ignore this error.

Hopefully, someone from Apple Tech support picks up on this thread and fixes this iPv6 situation.

I live in Phx and also have COX and Directv with a surfboard modem and Airport Extreme. My internet was very pretty good for the first year but occasionally my log-ins would disconnect somehow and I had to put in my passwords again. I never really had to re-boot anything until a month ago when my internet got really slow and then it kept dropping completely just a few weeks ago. Some times I had to re-boot 10 times a day or more. Cox just paid their 3rd visit yesterday. I have heard from OX that since they are putting in the "gigabit" system, they have had in increase in drops.

However, I am now convinced that it is my AE Base station that is the culprit. After all my visits with COX Techs my internet is up most of the time and as someone else stated, my system is up most of the time but tends to drop when dormant. I definitely have to reboot every morning even though the light on my AE is always green.

I have tried to use you fix but unfortunately no success. I am using AE utility 7.7.3 and the prompts are different than your post. I'm not a tech guy guy so can't really figure this out on my own at least not yet. At least I have some comfort knowing I am not alone in this dilemma.

After working perfectly on factory settings for 2 years, my new-model airport extreme began dropping connections once or twice per day. Unplugging the AE and plugging it back in would get me back online quickly, but it was very frustrating. After trying all of the various modem and AE "reconfiguration" options suggested on the net, and having none work, I just reset everything back to factory settings. It still disconnected every day. I was just about to begin with replacement of my AE and/or my modem. I found it hard to believe that this was the issue, but I had tried everything. Then it hit me to just reset the PRAM and the SMC. I tried that and low and behold, everything is back to normal. I would suggest going back to your original / factory settings that have worked for you in the past and just reset the PRAM and SMC.
