After reading all these comments I feel like I should have tried changing to memory foam eartips. Started liking 2nd Gen Airpods I do miss having noise cancelling. 😒

Won‘t use the APPs any more.
I consider buying AirPods 2.
If they only had Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) - I would, too - therefore I choose the https://www.kangyou.com.cn/en/productshow.php?id=830
It is not the silicon. Many (most?) of us have used other silicon earbuds for years without any problems, until the APPs.
I sold my APP to buy a sony WF-100xm3. I’ve been using it for 3 weeks now and my ear problems are gone. No more itchiness and ear fluids
Try Creative wireless ear buds, they’re really good
As we’ve seen before, buying new tops doesn’t solve it for everyone

oh my goodness. I have a severe allergy to nickel. I couldn't even have my wedding ring soldered the right way because of trace amounts of nickel. My ears are on fire after 10-15 min of wear.
Uhg. That’s terrible.
It took me 3-4 months for my ears to get back to normal after I stopped using the APP’s. I didn’t use any type of ear phone’s until they were completely healed.
I was rather hoping that Apple, themselves, might do that - and naively hoped that they would ‘recall’ a batch; it’s what car manufacturers do...
Mine were bought early December 2019.
I changed the tips and still get irritation in my ears. Anything else I can do???
