New sim but transferred old number and can’t get iMessage or FaceTime

Facetime and iMessage I had an old sim card in my iphone. When I changed the sim card to another new number, facetime and iMessage won't recognise new number or add it. Not only this, it is still trying to activate with the old number. Given in mind I have changed my reachable phone number in the Apple ID to the new one. I don't know what's wrong! Anyone help?

Swapping number in a new sim I’ve got a new SIM card in my phone and had a text message saying my old number has been transferred. It will let me ring people with my old number (so it has transferred) but when I FaceTime people it’s coming up with a different number and people can’t contact me with my new number unless they ring me it does not work with FT or iMessage

This response came fron 8 years ago, but might help: To change the default phone number in iMessage, you need to:

Insert the new sim.
Go to Settings > Messages>Turn off iMessage.
Go to General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Once the iPhone is open.
Go to Settings > Messages>Turn ON iMessage.
This will recognize the new sim and have it verified.

As and when your phone recognises the new number, it should allow FaceTime to work.
