Retrieving information from Microsoft Entourage

I recently updated to mac OS Catalina 10.15 which apparently is incompatible with the old Microsoft Office. I had used Entourage for years to store information in "notes". I had to buy the new Office pack which no longer has Entourage. None of my info transferred into the new "Notes". I need to find the missing info. Any help will be appreciated!

The Microsoft migration path from Entourage to Outlook was available with the replacement by the 32-bit Outlook 2011 for Mac because it offered an import feature for Entourage Mail data. This import tool was dropped in Office 2016 for Mac, and along with it went any conversion capability short of a possible third-party tool that will cost money — if you can find one.

If you performed a Time Machine backup of the previous operating system prior to the Catalina upgrade, then you can roll your Mac back to that operating system without data loss by booting into Recovery (cmd+R) and choosing Restore from Time Machine Backup. Without that Time Machine backup, or a cloned drive of that prior operating system, you are done with converting Entourage data to Outlook 365/2019 for Mac because you waited too long.

More Info (circa 2017).

Greetings jprentice37,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities! I understand you're unable to access information you have associated with an app, as the app isn't compatible with macOS Catalina.

The following article shows steps for reverting to a previous version of macOS and accessing files with Time Machine: Revert your Mac to a previous macOS version - Apple Support

Cheers.

To bring your data forward from such an older version of Office, do the following.

Entourage was last used in Office 2008. It changed to Outlook in Office 2011. The only way to get at the contents of an Entourage database is with Microsoft's email client.

If you made a full backup before upgrading to Catalina, you can restore it to return to that point. Otherwise, you have to do two main steps to move forward.

  1. You need Office 2011 to import the Entourage database. Newer versions of Office do not offer a way to import data from Office 2008 or older. If you know anyone using Office 2011, have them import your 2008 database to a new user account (so it doesn't get mixed with theirs).
  2. The updated import will have the same name as in 2008. It will the be Main Identity folder in the active user account. Bring that imported/converted 2011 database back to your Mac.
  3. Import the Office 2011 data into Outlook.

After that, the Main Identity folder is no longer used. Everything will be in this folder:

/Users/your_account/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office

Generally, the only thing that doesn't come over are the settings you use to connect to your email account. The password will have to be entered and saved to your keychain.
