I can't find iCloud drive on file selector

After a hiccup, I now find that all my files and desktop are on iCloud drive. How do I get them back for use? Do I have to restore - or something?

Mistakenly moved desktop files and folders to cloud I cannot restore my files in iCloud to the desktop. Perhaps I mistakenly archived all my desktop to the cloud. I can see my files in iCloud but cannot get them back. How do I get them back? Using MacOS Monterey version 12.6.

Removed files on desktop I was trying to save space on my iCloud by unchecking the box "iCloud Drive" without realizing it would remove all the folders of my assignments on my desktop. How can I retrieve it back? Please and thank you!
