Macbook Pro 2012 OSX Catalina 10.15.1 crashes when a Super Drive gets disconnected.

I upgraded from Mojave to Catalina 10.15.1 and now when my Super Drive gets disconnected from my Macbook Pro it crashes. When the Super Drive is connected to the Macbook Pro when the system is Shutdown the Mac also CRASHES. Black Screen with a message of the crash in several languages and after some seconds the Macbook starts up again. Then it shows a possibility to send the Crash Data to Apple, which I have done several times. When will I get a fix?

Hello gijs-me10,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand from the information you provided that when using your Super Drive, your Mac crashes; I'd like to help.

To start off, you may find the information and troubleshooting steps outlined in this article helpful:

If your Mac restarted because of a problem - Apple Support

To help further isolate potential causes for this behavior, I suggest seeing if this continues to be an issue when you restart your Mac in safe mode:

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

If you're able to use your Super Drive without issue, the next step would be to rule out incompatible login items:

If your Mac has a blue screen or other startup problems

Specifically, check out the section labeled “Test your login items”

Also, testing in another user account can help determine if this may be user or account related settings causing this issue. Here's how you can create a new user for testing:

If you continue to have issues with your Super Drive on your Mac, contact Apple Support:

Best Regards.
