Use Apple Music App to Send Audio to Sonos (NOT SONOS APP!)

I’ve just canceled my Spotify premium account and registered with Apple Music to see how it goes. I have a few Sonos devices and I want to be able to play music to these speakers, but NOT USING THE SONOS APP, which is extremely limited in functionality and lacking in practical design and organization. The Spotify app allowed me to send the audio to other devices. It doesn’t look like this is possible with Apple Music... Is there a way, or do I have no choice but to use the Sonos app to play Apple Music selections on the Sonos devices?

PLEASE! Don’t bother telling me how to use the Sonos app with the Apple Music plugin!

Ok. I had the similar issue and resetting modem does not fix it. I called Sonos support and Apple support. None of the method they tell me fix the problem (changing network band, change to compressed audio, connect using only 2.4G wifi.....)

I was able to use AirPlay with no issue when I first set it up a year ago. It got me thinking and decided to setup the speakers once again from the beginning and it fixed the problem.

Back to being to Airplay again. Happy days.

In case you don’t know how, go to your Sonos app, choose find missing product and press the physical ♾ connect button on speaker. Follow the instructions and re-add the rest of your speakers this way.

Thanks for responding.

Is your Sonos device the Play One or the 2nd gen Sonos One? I believe that my device, the Play 1 isn’t compatible with Airplay 2... Very disappointing. Spotify worked properly (in that way). Apple Music won’t.

I am having same problem now. I used to be able to play music directly from Apple Music app via airplay to my Sonos One and Sonos Beam.

My free Spotify account still can airplay the songs directly to my Sonos.

I can also play Apple Music through Sonos controller.

I’m using Sonos One and Sonos One gen 2. Beam and sub as well.

Thanks that is helpful - you mean you have a Play:1 (1st gen) and a Sonos One (looks identical but 2nd gen)?

I have Sonos One first gen and Sonos One second gen. Not Play:1.

I bought Sonos One first gen over a year ago and Sonos One second gen recently. They are identical in appearance.
