I Went To A 3rd Party Repairer To Get Ipad Screen Replaced and now Touch ID function is not working

I yell & scream at people who get their Apple device screens replaced at those cheap & nasty 3rd party places. Should have taken my own advice. In September 2019, I dropped my iPad, 6th gen (no longer under warranty) & the top corner of the screen cracked so I took it to a non Apple store to be replaced as my closet Apple store was 1.5hours away & I needed to use it. It cost $120 & I did not sign a waiver.

I went to Apple yesterday as my iPad was getting really hot, not holding charge while using. They informed me it was a 3rd party screen & they can identify force marks to get the screen off, dust under the screen & it being placed on unevenly. They also told me the touch ID was no longer working because of the 3rd party screen. I have been contacting apply support for months trying to figure out why my Touch ID wasn’t working anymore. When I got the screen replaced I was not made aware the Touch ID function would no longer work.

I would just like to know what my recourse is, if any? Could I ask for my money back because they neglected to inform me the Touch ID would not work after the replacement?

Hello,

Apple does not replace displays on iPad. If your iPad’s display was replaced then you used a non Apple authorized service center. By doing so you have voided your warranty as well as any chance of Apple helping you or asking for help on Apple Support Communities. Apple will no longer touch your iPad. Your only choice is to return to the repair shop as they are the only ones who will help you now.

OR

Do a Web search to find a much better unauthorised, third party repair center that both specialises on working on Apple mobile devices and is experienced in microsoldering techniques.

Generally, unauthorised, third party Apple repair shops that have taken the time and efforts to learn and perfect using microsoldering techniques are better and more qualified and knowledgeable about being able to fix/repair Apple mobile devices.

They also tend to charge more for their superior knowledge and expertise, also.

We are not allowed here to make any specific recommendation about more qulaified, unauthorised, third party Apple mobile device repair shops.

Best of Luck to You!
