I don't have the previous owners apple ID and o have no idea who originally owned iy

The iPad updated and I tried to sign in but apparently the person who gave it to me wasn’t the original owner. Now what do I do?

If you don't know the original owner and can't get them to remove the iPad from their account, the iPad is worthless.
