Photos Originals Folder (post Catilina Update)

Hey All,

prior to the Catalina update, Photos would sort the Originals folder by date (Year/Mth/Date of each import). This made it nice and easy to find (and copy for backup) new photos every few months.

Since the Catalina update, the folder structure has changed and is now useless. Folders are created based on the first letter of the photo's filename.

Anyone know the easiest way to identify and backup new photos in Catalina?

Cheers,

I would simply backup the new photos before importing them to Photos. Import all new photos to a folder on the volume, where you archive your photos, and only then import them to Photos.

You can also use the "File > Export > Export unmodified Originals" command in Photos to save the original image files. You will always find the most recently imported new Photos, that need backing up, in the Imports album, sorted by the date of import.

You can also use a smart album (File > New Smart Album) with the rule "Date added is in the last ... days"
