Apple TV app is not remembering where I left off during a show.

This is happening to me on my iPad Pro 10.5-inch, version 13.2.3.

I have the Apple TV Plus subscription. If I pause the program and walk away for a few minutes, and if the iPad sleeps, it will return to the app's home page upon unlocking. I can then select the episode I was on, but it will start at the beginning, not where I left off. I have to manually scrub through to try and remember where I was. I've learned to jot down the time to make it quicker.

Also, II feel like the app should continue on to the next episode. Or at least give the option. Even if I watch the credits to the end, it will just return back to the home page of the series. Maybe I'm spoiled by Netflix.

I watch Apple's shows, Mankind, Morning Show, and See. I haven't used the app to view other things, like through Hulu or CBS, etc.

Anyone else having similar problems? Maybe even on different platforms?

Thank you.

I am using my Apple TV to watch Apple TV+. Watching the morning show. It doesn’t remember what episodes I’ve watched and what the next one is to watch. Is this a test beta app or am I having trouble understanding how it works?

Hi there, ritzendollar.

I see that, if you pause or leave your iPhone while using the TV application, when you return to your phone you're back to the TV app's start page, and not the show you were watching. Also, the app doesn't continue to the next episode, instead it goes the series' home page, and I'm glad to help with this.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- Restart your iPhone. Once it's returned to the Home screen, see if the TV application behaves as expected.

Delete built-in Apple apps on your iOS 12, iOS 13, or iPadOS device or Apple Watch -- If restarting your device didn't resolve the issue, delete then restore the TV application, and see if the issue's resolved.

Let me know how that goes, and take care!

BreeZee_17,

Thank you for the response!

I don't know why I didn't try restarting the iPad and/or reinstalling the app ... This is basic troubleshooting (just after "Is it plugged in?" Hehe!) and it never crossed my mind. LoL

Here's what I have done. I deleted the app, recycled the power on the iPad, then reinstalled the app. Just went ahead and did both of your resolutions at once to save time.

Now, after sleeping and unlocking, I am landed on the show's home page instead of the app's. Here, I select the episode I was watching, and there is now a button to 'resume' where I left off.

This is certainly better than having to remember where I was, and scrubbing.

The app still doesn't continue to the next episode, it just returns back to the show's home page.

I'm not sure, but it could be because I have already watched the episode after the one I was testing. Another doesn't come out until Friday, so I will try again then.

Thank you for your help!
