iPad Pro 11” freezes when I attach Apple Pencil 2 every time

I have the iPad Pro 11” and every time I attach the Apple Pencil, there is a pop up at the top with an image of an Apple Pencil spinning and it freezes the screen for ~20 seconds until it goes away.

Why is this happening? (Part of a new software update?) Can I toggle this off anywhere so the screen isn’t frozen every time I attach the Apple Pencil?

Figured it out, I had just reset my iPad and the pop up was part of the initial setup for the pencil.
